2003 vs 2004 - reposted
Hi folks,
I'm an invader from the SC430 forum. My wife wants a car with some room (she's driving my old 1992 SC400) and we just got back from looking at the GX. From what I've read so far on this forum, looks like its worthwhile to just wait for the 2004's. From a quick read of the threads on this forum, sounds like late Sept availability? OTOH, if I could get a good deal on a new 2003, looks like I might save a few thousand $$$$$.
What are the thoughts on get a good deal now versus wait for the 2004 and pay close to full sticker? From what I gleaned from this forum, sounds like reverse camera and different suspension are the only material changes (although I might be able to use the Sec 179 deduction and guess that the 2004 model will avoid the GVW problems of the 2003).
Also I noticed a post that mentioned great deals in S Fla. I plan to be down there (Palm Beach) late next week, and could easily fly down and drive a new vehicle back, if the deal is good. Could you please post the dealership (and salesperson) where you got the deal?
Thanks!

JM Lexus
Thanks. I went back and read some of the posts a little more closely and already have contacted JM Lexus. While my local dealer is giving me the old "we're not willing to drop our pants that far" line, JM gave me an initial quote of over $5k off sticker. I suspect there might be evn more room on the pricing, and I think I might be flying to Miami or Lauderdale next week for my meetings and driving home a nice new Lexus!!!

Good luck. The GX is a great car but remember it is a 6000 lb GVW and does not qualify for special tax treatment under section 179. Don't let a salesperson tell that it 'he thinks' it does.

2004 GVW
w4rjd,
Thanks for the clarification. My local dealer called Calif and confirmed that the 2004 will not change GVW. Says it is not easy to change once a model has been certified at a given weight. What a SNAFU!!! I'll just have to spread the depreciation over 5 years. Not a real problem, since I typically hold my cars a long time.
