Autoarmor
The dealer tried to push a finish on my new GX470 getting delivered next week. It is called the AutoArmor Teflon Finish. Supposedly eliminates waxing for 5 years protecting against salt and tree sap (I do live in New England on the shore so lots of salt) I like the idea if it really worked since I have had rust issues in the past with other cars.

I can sell you the Brooklyn Bridge afterwards. Just kidding. Don't get it . Big waste of time. I've read that teflon is only effective if applied at high temperatures--much too high to apply to paint. Otherwise it's a waste of time.
Most of those dealer applications are a waste of time-pure profit.
they've got a car care forum on this website; post the same question and I'm sure everyone else will say the same thing.

Don't get it
It is pure profit for the dealer. There is also some "warranty" I assume as far as "protection" goes. Read the fine print there will likely be an annual inspection or re-coating that needs to get done, and conveniently the company will go out of business so you'll never get paid if something should happen through the "armor" like teflon coating.

It's total BS. I purchased it when I got my first Lexus, a '98 black onyx GS400. I learned the hard way - none of that stuff works. The dealer warned me about black exteriors and I was dumb enough to believe it. They said no swirls, no wax for 5 yrs, etc, etc.
I got towel swirls after the first wash. And the stuff doesn't stick either. You'll have to wax it within a year. I parked in a garage, and I still needed to wax.
Besides, your car will never look as good as it does after a fresh wax, so I just save that $500 for future waxes. They protect your finish better and give it that "new" showroom shine.
