Default Oh no I messed up my new GX470

I am so upset. I left fingermarks on the clear plastic that covers the instrument cluster and thought I would clean it off. I got a small table napkin and wiped. To my horror it left huge swirl marks. I ran inside and got the softest cloth I could find and rubbed it. I got rid of the fingerprints but the swirl marks left by the napkin remained. What an eyesore to look down now and see that.

I called up lexus and they said the plasic is $25 so I ordered it. I tried to take off the housing for it by unscrewing the two screws up above the plastic. They turned and turned but the screws did not come out or even seem as though they were coming out.

What to do. I don't want to have to take the car in to get it fixed and pay for labor and the part as well. Is there a product that can get rid of the swirl marks on the plastic?

Please help.

I fixed my own problem. I went out and bought Turtle wax scratch remover and Meguiars scratch remover. The Turtle wax did not work. The Meguiars worked and removed the swirl 95%. I was really freaking though. The car is a day old.

Hi there.

Since Lexus is so accommodating , I would just talk to your salesperson and they can talk to the service dept & have them just replace the plastic for you, especially since the car is a day old.

After all, Lexus wants all their customers HAPPY!

Hey Edge2 what happened?? Did you actually get an unfortunate scratch going through a car wash???

What kinda car wash was it?? I use car washes during the winter to control the salt etc. off my Lexus.

Tell us more.....

Sheldon.

I don't use the car wash it does not do the greatest job of cleaning the vehicle and depending on the color leaves tons of swirl marks that when the sun hits the car are terrible looking, my friends girl took his Black 3 Series in the car wash car looked clean and dull, really bad looking when the sun hit it
