Default Race Ramps

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to give a review on some Race Ramps I picked up to assist do maintenance on the GX470. Bottom line - buy a set!

Let me start buy saying they are made in America - Michigan. What I purchased are the two piece 56" car service ramps, RR-56-2. They do make a one piece version, but the two piece makes it more convenient to get back behind the wheel.

Now these ramps can be ordered via alot of different sites. When you do, you usually can order their standard weight capacity ramps of 3,000 lbs a set. When you order directly from Race Ramps, you can order the HD (Heavy Duty) version that has the same dimensions as the standard but can handle 5,000 lbs a set.

The ramps are solid and light. They are not hollowed out on the bottom. They do not skid in the driveway and I believe they are a great product. The RR-56-2HD had no problem handling the GX470. The HD versions are made to order for the most part.

From the way I have it set up in my driveway, right behind the front wheel I had about 17" clearance. From the front of the car I had 30" clearance.

Now I don't work for the company and am just a consumer of their product. Currently you cannot order the product via the website. You have to call in and place the order over the phone. I was charged an additional $30 for the Heavy Duty option. The staff was friendly when I dealt with them. It was nice dealing with an American manufacturing company that actually manufactures in America.

We use them for our racecar as well to load it into our trailer. Solid stuff

One of our CL vendors used to carry them, not sure if they still do

Yep - solid stuff indeed.

I did not know they had a HD version until I spoke to them on the phone and told them I was concerned about putting the GX on their standard 3,000 lbs capacity ramps. That is when they explained the HD version can be ordered through them and I was sold.

shouldn't your front wheels be all the way forward hitting the bump stop... so the your wheel is in the valley and not at the peak?

my buddies use these ramps for their corvettes... since they are the only ones that can clear the lower diffuser and get the car up safely and quickly... i've worked underneath them and they are solid... i have a scissor lift but am seriously considering getting a set to do oil and trans changes... they are light enough where i can store them in the attic garage or build a shelf to keep them...

I hear ya about having them at the bump stop although there is no real valley that I can see. With other ramps, I have also stopped short of the bump stops. Once I have the vehicle on the ramps, I use the parking brake and some 2"x6" pieces of wood for wheel chocks.

This weekend I has the LS460 for an oil change. It had no problem getting on and off the ramps for clearance.

Def solid and good product...but too expensive for my taste.

Also the width is a little too narrow for me. One of my cars has 345mm tires in the back, and I want some buffer on the sides.

So I made my own out of wood. Cost me $50.
