Default Aux input w/o Nav

Has anyone installed a GROM auxiliary input into their stock stereo without navigation (w/o ML) ?
I have looked at their site and I can't see where they definitively say that it will work on my stock '06 stereo.
Thanks for any help with this.

seeing as it uses the cd changer port I would say maybe if you have a seperate cd changer, but my non-nav has a built in cd changer, so I don't think there will be a port back there but could be wrong. just a guess prob wont work if you have a built in cd changer.

That's what I was thinking. The GROM web site says all models. Mine has the built-in changer too. I guess I could upen it up to see but don't want to do it twice.

there must be pictures of the back of the unit floating around on the web, possibly from the stereo wiring guide.

I recently installed a Grom in my 2004 GX470, but mine had navigation.

I'm fairly certain the harness plugs into the CD changer port on the back of your stereo, so I would think you would be fine as long as your unit has a factory CD changer. Grom lists their model as fitting all 1st Gen GX470s.

FWIW, I wasn't really happy with the Grom. It has a harness that ties into the CD changer and is "supposed" to be able to work both but I was only able to get it to work when the CD changer was unplugged from the harness. It seems other people have had the same issue where the two wouldn't work together.

Also, the bluetooth on it sucks, you can hear a humming noise in the background.

If I could do it all over, I would buy a "no name" adapter on Ebay or Amazon for Toyota/Lexus for like $30

Also, when you install it, be very careful with the removable wood panels on the dash that surround the stereo. Even being really careful, I broke a few tabs. What you really don't want to do is crack the face where the wood veneer is, replacements aren't cheap

Thanks for the info. I don't have a separate CD changer (it's a built in 6 disk) so I'm not sure where it would plug in. GROM says it'll work so I guess there is some sort of input on the back.

I have been waiting to get a chance to open up the stock head unit, the one with the 6 disc built in cd changer, and see if there is an easy way to add an aux port in there. it really bothers me there is already an aux mode on the headunit for the RSES to play dvd's (when dvd is playing if you hit CD button twice it will go into AUX mode), but the aux mode is only accessible when the dvd player is on and I couldn't figure out how to trick it from the RSES side, but maybe there is a way from the headunit side. haven't found a way to trick it but usually if you open up the headunit there is a way to bypass the tape player or even input pins sometimes if you get lucky (sc300 and 400 base model stereo has these). if I get around to it I will let you guys know the results.

I'm very curious about that option too. It would be nice to replace the casset-tape input with an aux. input since I'll never use the tape player.
