Question Have some questions about buying a GX470

Hello Everyone...

This is my first post.
ClubLexus is an awesome site and great resource.

I currently own a 2002 RX300 Coach Edition with NAV and had a 2001 IS300 before that.

Here are my questions about buying a new GX470 (Hendrick Lexus in Charlotte, NC):

1) I want a fully loaded GX. The lexus.com website quotes the price of $53,800 (including delivery, processing and handling). The price they quoted me today was $54,230. I am wondering what the difference in price is from. Any Ideas???

2) Has anyone used their "Customer Loyalty" $500 coupon to purchase their GX. The reason I ask is that when I went to buy my 2002 RX300 they gave me a story line that if I waited for the 2003 models that I would not be able to use my discount because the particular year and model has to be approved for the coupon. Anyone heard similar stories???

3) Do the rear seats (not the third row seats) adjust forward or backwards???

Thanks in advance for all your help

Re: 1) The price one web ($53.6K) includes the destnation charge. So, the only thing I can think of is that dealer is quoting you extra for license fee or any work that dealer may have extra on the car, e.g., pinstriping etc.,

Re: 2) Second (middle) row seats have reclining adjustment, but the seat doesn't slide backward or forward. You can fold it against the first row, but that's for increasing the cargo room.

I don't have answer to question 2) as this is my first lexus.

As to your question #1, I believe the difference in price is for something like floor mats or some other such extra that dealers make a boat load of money off of. That was the case with me, I had printed out the kbb.com prive report before I went to the dealer and compaired item by item and everything was the same but the floor mats and locking anti theft wheel nuts were extra dealer installed options that added up to a few hundred dollars. Usually there are other add on charges when you go to sign the paperwork, again in my case there was a $490.00 "administrative and notery fee". This fee is just a way they can make a little more money via an official sounding charge (in NC by law a notery can charge a maximum of $3.00 per signature they noterize). Hope this was helpful, by the way I purchased my GX470 at Flow Lexus in Kernersville, NC.

The $430 difference between the $54,230 and the $53,800, happens to be the exact cost of the 5,000# factory tow hitch receiver.

Thanks for all the information so far. I do not need the trailer hitch, so I wonder if I can get it without one. I am looking for a fully loaded one, but I guess now I am looking for one fully loaded minus trailer hitch.
