Just bought 04 Gx 470 yesterday. Rear end is all the way down no give. I think compressor is out but could be several issues. Either way it has 120k miles on it so I want to do away with air ride. I have been reading a bit about conversion kits but I do some towing. I have a small jet boat so any suggestions.

Comfort setting only controls the valving on the shocks. Ride height is controlled by height sensors along side air bags. It adjusts based on load.

Default Don't think towing would be a problem.

After doing my conversion to coil springs the rear on my 2004 GX470 sits just as high if not
maybe an inch higher than when the air bags were working. I just took around a 500 mile
trip with the rear loaded down with luggage and it didn't make any difference in the ride
height. I have not towed anything since my conversion but don't think it would be a problem
unless you were towing something extremely heavy. I have a friend with an 05 4-Runner
that has factory coil springs and I'm sure mine would tow just as well as it with my conversion
since my Lexus still sits higher than the 4-Runner even after changing to coil springs.

Default console switch

does anyone have instructions on how to remove that console switch without making a wreck out of it? is there a special tool to use or any ideas??

I just used a thin blade kitchen knife to remove mine. There is a
little lip around the switch you can put a paper towel down around
the lip when you pry up against the lip to keep from scratching your console.
There are 4 plastic clips that are built in to the sides of the switch that
are about 1/2" from each end. Just put the knife blade under the switch
on one side and gently pry up about where the clips would be then
do the same to the other side. Mine came up pretty easy. Then
you can just pull the switch up and disconnect the wiring harness
that plugs in to the white socket at the bottom of the switch.
There is plenty of room to put the wiring harness down inside
the console and you don't really have to put tape over the end
of it unless you just want to. Mine didn't cause any dash lights
to come on and the height control still shows green on the N.
The only time I had a light come on was on a long trip when it
was raining hard. The light "ride control off" came on but went
back off by it'self a few times. Not sure if it was picking up
something in the disconnected sensors or what caused it.
That's been several months ago and it hasn't done it again.
