Crankshaft Main Bearing Seal
I have a Lexus GX470 and the local Toyota dealer has told me that they need to remove the transmission to get to the seal, so then they would replace it. They have claimed that this will take a tremendous amount of labor! They are also stressing that it requires immediate attention! How can I be sure this is a fact, based on the amount they want to charge, just to replace a seal, I am feeling very uncomfortable! Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Unless the Engine is leaving HUGE puddles of oil all over the place, and losing a quart or so a week, it really isn't that big of a deal.
Shops LOVE to stress oil leaks, and make them sound like they will cause the engine the blow up, because the seals needed to fix them are really cheap, but always take very high labor costs to replace. Nothing but pure profit!
Just keep your eye on the oil level every so often as recommended by Toyota.
