I had a 2006 Toyota 4Runner about 3 years ago. It was the V6. During one stretch during the summer months, it was incredibly humid and wet. The car was in my unattached garage for about a week, just parked. It was very very humid and damp in there.

Shortly thereafter, we heard a "thump" while driving, just like what everyone is describing here. I went to a local shop who had a code reader and was giving some kind of error from a transmission sensor or something like that. I honestly can exactly remember.

However, in the end, it went away on its own. We concluded that the connector near the transmission was affected by the humidity. Once the humidity dropped and we used the car, the thumping ended.

Does the GX 470 and 4 Runner share common parts in with the transmission etc...
