JocDoc I am in agreement. But don't forget to ask your tax expert about the additional 1/3 in the first year of use tax deduction on remainder after the $24,000 and the regular year's worth of deduction.

If you asked me this question in December. I would have said GX-470 for the tax reasons and if not available I'd said a BMW X5. Today I'm not sure I wouldn't buy the GX anyway!

If the GX or 4-Runner had a turbo diesel engine option I would have a tougher decision. I have a 1984 MB 300SD with 320,000 miles which is now parked due to the GX.

sorry edge, at this time the GX interior choices are ivory or dark charcoal. Black, I hope, will be available in the future.

Thanks degeester. My accountant has already informed me of the other tax benefits. I hope to pick up the 470 within the next two weeks!

degeester,

I do not dislike the '03 4Runners. In fact, i have a whole forum for it! I have no envy. In fact, i bought my 4runner because it was what i wanted for my purposes. I was fully aware of the '03 4Runner.

However, this original post questioned whether the GX is worth the premium. I felt that it does. Period.

Thanks.

Hey 177, the government considers the GVWR as the appropriate number for the tax break. The fully loaded GX-470 weighs in at 6100 lbs. (GVWR). The 4-Runner weighs in at 5500 lbs.

Default exactly

I understand the method they use - just wanted to make sure you knew that the gross weight and the truck weight were different....
