So on a rainy Sunday, my buddy Paul and I finished up the snorkel install for my GX. It went pretty straight forward except for some minor complications (heads up for GX owners):

The snorkel kit consists of snorkel, snorkel head, and inner piece that goes under fender between snorkel inlet and stock air box. Since the snorkel was designed for a V6 Prado overseas, we had to make some modifications to get the snorkel to sit flush on the fender. The GX has more inner fender metal bracing so we had to cut off 1/2" off the snorkel inlet and the inner piece inlet to make up the difference of the extra metal.

Also the rubber coupling between the inner piece and stock airbox didn't work because the V8 airbox inlet was much bigger than the V6 airbox so we had to go buy a 4" to 3.5" step down silicone coupling from pepboys to get it to work. It would have been a quick install, had it not been for those two issues. Now installed, and loving it.

Can you post some shots of the inside, with the tubing adapter?

Also, how is the upper part held in place? Double-stick foam to the A-pillar?

Not my rig but Dan Kunz's GX:

The upper part of the snorkel has a bracket with bolts for the snorkel and the other part of the bracket is held on to the a pillar using 4 rivets

Looks great and thanks for the information. Do you have the part number for the snorkel? I see that ARB has two versions for Prado120..... V6 and Diesel. I assume you purchased the V6 version?

By the way, I visited Demello last week. Jason, the owner, told me he's working on GX bumper this month and it shouldn't be a problem building mine at the same time. He told me he built one unit before and this would be the second attempt. Also discussed building custom sliders and rear bumper with tire carriers. Those will take some time due to heavy customization.

I will start posting some pics once I get some progress with the mods.

This weekend, I swapped out my Magnaflow 12256 18" length muffler for a Flowmaster Super 10 single chamber muffler to get some more grunt out of the old girl. The Magnaflow was a bit tame for me and it had a slight exhaust leak at the welds. The Flowmaster Super 10 really opened up the V8 and now it sounds like a beast, absolutely love it. Here's my sound clip:

Install photo, its tiny compared to the massive Magnaflow muffler it replaced:

Also, added Trek Armor king cobra weave paracord "oh ****" handles for the passengers in the back since there is not much to grab onto back there.

Haha Jason was talking about my truck regarding that GX bumper, we can have ours done at the same time for sure. As far as the snorkel, I couldnt track down an ARB one so I sourced an Ironman snorkel for the Prado 120 4.0 V6. The airbox on the v8 is bigger so you will need a 4" to 3.5" step down rubber coupling.

That is too funny..... I was wondering who had the same thought of getting the Demello bumper. Keep me posted.. Jason was supposed to send me the pic of the first one he built plus we are supposed to nail down some dates for rear bumper and sliders but I haven't heard from him. He's a busy guy and it's been hard tracking him down. I got some funds and want to get everything done .

Planning on a flat top with no hoops to keep it clean and just mounting my 22" led bar in the middle, already got some led dually lights for the fog light holes. Jason told me end of March for my front bumper build and told me he will need my truck for at least a week. I'll keep you posted for sure.

My little homage to the Prado platform: bought a FJ60 land cruiser emblem, chopped off the Toyota part and sprayed with bedliner to match snorkel and attached with 3m automotive emblem double stick tape. It came out just as I imagined!
