6500lb hitch for GX470, PT228-60540
If you have a towing prep package on your GX470 up to year model 2009 and you want the 6500lb hitch, get part # PT228-60540. It bolts on, no problem with all of the hardware you need included. This is a class IV 6500lb factory hitch.

That's the frame-mounted hitch. The only problem I had with mine was getting the tow hook bolts off. Waaaay too tight from the factory...

Use WD40 on old fine threaded holes
I used a 1/2" breaker bar to bust the bolts loose. You are correct, they are tight.
The only problem I had was the previously unused threaded holes needed WD40. They are all fine threads and they'll be a little rusty/dirty since most of them have been unused for years.

It's not that bad - you'd be hitting the exhaust too. But I admit that you would want to get any tall rocks to go off to one side... Which you'd probably have to anyway to clear the pumpkin.

My baddie's got a GX with that hitch and every time we come off the boat ramp it drags coming out of the water. Partially the design of the boat ramp also.

Has anyone ever towed that much with their GX? I have a 4000 pound boat and would like to take the GX but i feel like it will tax it too much. I just keep taking my Silverado.

My brother-in-law has about that size boat (Grady White - nice!) and tows it with his LX. Same engine as in the early GX (4.7 liter, no VVTi), in a heavier vehicle (LX vs. GX) and it does fine.
