My recall says for customers who purchased or leased AFTER December 31, 2002. The $1,000 credit is not conditional on if a writeoff was planned.

I wonder if there are different recalls notices?

They must have sent out different letters depending on the purchase date. I believe that the luxury tax went away after December 31, 2003. The $1000 Visa credit for Lexus goods and services is for ALL customers who meet the qualifcations of the Owner Support Program that was developed for this recall. In my letter the Owner Support Program is for customers who purchased or leased an incorrectly labeled 2003 GX470 ("Owners") before January 1, 2003.

My comment is that this owner support program does not address the large tax ramifications that business owners will be faced with as a result of the rating change. Does anyone have information on that?

stupid question,

But, does a factory installed tow kit add to the GVWR of a vehicle. That would get it over the 6K mark. Otherwise, I'm going to have to cancel my order with Lexus--I was supposed to pick it up Friday!

Here is a link and it also says OVER 6K lbs.

A hitch will not increase the gross weight, if just lowers the cargo weight by the wieght of the hitch.

This is part of an email sent back to me from a Lexus dealership. I'm going to call my accountant first thing Monday. In the meantime, does anybody, i.e. accountants, know absolutely for sure?

---Hello again. I have noticed that all the new MSRP stickers have a small sticker to the side that says the GX470 is 6000 lbs. The IRS info says 6000 lbs or greater----

Default We're Screwed!

I just talked to my dealership contact and he is pissed because he said they were 'Misled' by Lexus to push the vehicle as 6100 GVWR. I feel sorry for all those people that now have to file an amended tax return.
