Welcome to the club!! I drive a 2000 RX300 and I bought my wife a BMW X5 in 2001. Nice SUV, very sporty, but it went into the shop 11 times for different things in the first 18 months (though 5 of those times was to replace over and over defective secondary cooling fans). The X5 was severly lacking in space for my 3 yr old and 6 month old kids, and the last straw was that it began having creaks and rattles throughout the interior. Got my wife a new GX470 2 weeks ago and LOVED it from the moment I drove it off the lot. Quiet as a tomb inside with lots of space and a third row seat. I know that the third row isn't much but it's fine for the kids and fits a child seat well. We got ours loaded with all options and of course my 3 yr old loves the DVD!!!!! Again congrats and welcome!!!!!

Enjoy it and welcome to CL. You'll find ALOT of info here. BTW, I drove an X5 for the first time the otehr day. Pretty tight feel, very responsive and very different from the GX. i liked it a lot.
