My Lexus now has $173k miles and has never had suspension work. I've decided to go with the following:

FRONT:

Will be one of these 4Runner OEMs, not sure which one because they have a different stock number but no idea which one will fit:

I understand that I'll lose height control. My questions are:
1) Will my ride be smooth or stiff?
2) Is there anything about the installation that I need to relay to my mechanic?
3) Are there any other parts that I'll need?

I used Oem Toyota part
48510-69555. Front struts
48302-35040 rear shocks
My ride is a little stiff now but was told it will soften up
Will need spring compressor to do front struts.
No other part needed.

The second set of numbers for the rear is a spring sub-assembly (hollow). Isn't this one of may parts that I would need if I went with the 4Runner OEM rear conversion?

If you look at your front shock links again, it says W/REAS at the end. You don't want that since we don't have those XREAS shocks on our GX.

And the second link that 2OnyxLexus posted is for the upper rear spring seats that act as an internal bump stop, not rear shocks.

Here's what you'll need:

FRONT SHOCKS (STRUTS), you'll need 2

Copied the wrong one.

I guess you could replace your front struts like that. I have access to a wall mounted spring compressor. So that is what I used.

I forgot you said you're using the strutmaster rear kit. I don't know if the stock isolators will fit or not w/ those springs, so I can't say for sure if you need them....but even if you were to use the stock 4Runner springs, guys that have done the airbag to rear spring conversion on their 4Runners have not always used the isolators so I don't think they're really a must have anyway but when I do the conversion I'm using them.

Well this clears it up a bit, thanks. But what about rear springs? Am I not seeing that somewhere?

If I elect to go with the Strutmasters for the rear, they come with shocks already. Advantages to going with Toyota OEM all the way around?

The OEM spring is on the same page as the rear shocks in the link I posted above...it's under product assemblies. You just click on the diagram to get the part number

As for the advantages of going w/ OEM springs, I couldn't tell you since I'm not running them. I haven't seen anyone with a GX run them but there are 4Runner guys running them. Try and search around on some 4Runner sites and see what they say.

I went ahead and ordered the strutmasters for the rear. As far as the front, I called Toyota Parts Overstock about this part you listed:

Click on the link you posted above....

Then click on the link to the left of the red arrow.


Once you're on the new link, use the + magnifier glass to zoom into the spring in the diagram to get the part number. Then look to the right of the screen and scroll down until you see the part number for the front L & R springs.

Okay that makes sense. Only problem is, there are 4 versions for both sides with the same part number.

Well, the GRN210 is likely 2WD, and the GRN215 is likely 4WD, but other than that I can't tell you the difference, other than price.

Edit: 2WD might actually be UZN210/215, so I don't know.

You want UZN (V8)...215 (4WD); GRN is the V6.
