2005 GX 100,000 miles for $20,000?
First time GX buyer. Please help.
2005 GX loaded with nav. and DVD package. 100,000 miles...$20,000
The timing belt and water pump have NOT been serviced but the dealer has agreed to replace them as part of the $20,000 deal.
Should I be worried that's it's a 2005?

I bought my 2006 with 80,000 miles for $23k roughly. It's got KDSS (sport package) and rear dvd and the timing belt it not yet done.
Does your 2005 have kdss? If not, I'd say look some more, unless that doesn't bother you.
The price is in line with expected dealer pricing, if you found a personal deal it might work out better. Getting the timing belt done and a once over from a dealer that price might not be bad. Check the common gotchas, cracking dash board, leaking radiator, bubbling wheel paint, etc. If everything works I'd say it's a realistic price.

Depends on condition and maintenance. I've looked at many in the past several months (when I was shopping) and would say the majority fall within $16-20k (CA/AZ area). I would say each model year depreciated $2-2.5k. The ones with asking prices of $15-17.5k were rather rough around the edges; my guess is they were family vehicles for it's life span. I saw a handful of well maintained GX's for ~ $17-18k (private sales) but mileage was more in the 130k range. Of the 30+ I researched, just about all except 2 still needed a Timing Belt. It really varies ... good luck.

Way over-priced. Do a nationwide search on autotrader.com and see for yourself.
I'd expect it closer to $15k than $20k, like an earlier poster suggested.
I'm betting the OP already bought it ... got that look in their eye and pulled the trigger already. If they happily keep it for many years, then a few thousand here or there doesn't make much difference IMHO.

My '04 gx470 has ALL SERVICE RECORDS...ALL MAJOR SERVICES COMPLETED....BRAND NEW SNEAKERS....GARAGED KEPT!!!!!!!!!!!
one dealer offered my 12K as a trade in...I puked right on the showroom floor....plus salesperson told me that, the way that you drive, service your GX, you baby it....that GX will last you 300,000 miles with out any doubt....and every time it goes to the dealership...people cant believe that the gx is 11 years old.....so pristine that it looks like it just came off the showroom floor.....EXCEPT...WITHOUT THAT 2014 STICKER PRICE OF 65,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Moral of this.....I will continue to drive it....got another 200,000 miles to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Johnny Rad..I did an autotrader search last night and $18,000-$21,000 seems to be the range for these. Some are closer to $17,000 but do not have Nav and DVD player.
The resale value of the GX amazes me. My budget is $20,000 and that puts me into a car with 90k+ miles.

Have you had a mechanic look it over?
I suspect if they delayed the timing belt service, there's other maintenance issues yet to be found.
Look for torn CV boots, the transfer case leak, blown shock(s).

I think you're seeing what you want.
On the first page of trader results, theres plenty of examples with 110-124k mi with navi that are asking $14.5-16.5k. Figure you'll pay less.
Under 100k mi? The first four are under $18k and all have navi (you're right, 18 is a bit closer to 20 than 15, but maybe you'll be generous and overlook it). Again, that's just the asking price. (One of them is a Sport model, but don't tell Mr Colorado Mtn cop-trained GX driver that someone is "giving it away" for a non-Sport price... but, that's an entirely different subject in a different thread. I digress.)
All in all, what's a few grand one way or the other? Find one that you like - colors, options, service history, good PPI, etc - and get it. Don't settle because you're likely to regret it. Happy shopping!

P.S. What's the allure of the factory (or even aftermarket) DVD player in the ceiling? The screens are tiny and placed inconveniently for one's neck. I wonder if they're even HD. If you have a tablet, consider going that route. If not, I think you can get a DVD player that straps to the headrest for ~$150 (I'm guessing, but I don't think it's much) from the WH stores.

For the cost of one of the built-in DVD systems, you could buy 2 or more tablets. So that everyone gets to play their own games, watch their own movies. If the car companies were smart, they'd introduce a docking system for them, or rebrand one of the Android tablets.

First thing, is it a Lexus Dealership you are buying it from? If not, I wouldn't let another Brand's dealership do timing belt/water pump, as they probley won't use factory parts or be familiar with the engine.
Just for reference, I recently picket up a 2006 GX470 Sport (with KDSS) fully loaded with 81k miles on it for $21k.
If you do go for it, make sure you check for common issues, like mentioned before:
Look for torn CV boots, the transfer case leak, blown shock(s) + air suspension issues
also, check the lower passenger side radiator for leaks, and the underbody/frame for rust. If it is a lexus dealership, have them print out its service history for you.

The cassette deck mention is a low blow. Below the belt. Not fair.
Both my cars - 2GS4 and 1GX - have a cassette deck. Yes, I still own a few cassettes ... but, I'm 99% converted to CD's now. Wait a minute, looks like those are also old school now. Maybe they'll come back like vinyl?! I can hope. (Please don't burst my bubble.)
