Newbie just joining the fun
Hi all, just bought an '07 GX470 and am trying to get up to speed on what it can do and what I can do to it. This forum is very helpful and appreciate the time and effort people spend on helping others out. I am sure I'll be asking some dumb questions but I will do my best to remember to search a topic before I open my...thread
The shocks are starting to sweat so I am reading up on OEM and after market options. If I understood correctly, I can put Bilstein 5100's on all for corner if I don't mind giving up the sport/comfort setting and it won't affect the ability to change ride height. Can I replace the coils at the same time with an aftermarket one that won't change the ride height at all? I do plan on taking off road/into mtngs, but nothing like a Rubicon trail calibre. And being from Western Canada the price of most things seems to be substantially cheaper coming from the US.
Thanks and cheers,
Hill60

You can still change the ride height with aftermarket shocks installed. The shocks don't affect the height. Only the rear of the car raises and lowers. The rear air bags perform this function. Changing the front shocks WILL eliminate the 'ride comfort' settings, as these are controlled by the front shocks (not a big loss IMO). Stock height coils are available for the rear if that's what you want. Decent all-terrain tires would probably be the only off-road mod you'd need to make for light off-road use.
