2004 Airbag Light Comes On
So I've searched all over and can't find the same problem. Most of what I've seen are where someone has installed something--usually stereo-related--and the airbag light comes on. I haven't installed anything on it. In fact, I've not been driving it much over the past few months as I bought a new car and will be selling this one.
I did drive it a bit recently and the airbag light came on while driving. It turns off when I turn the car off but, eventually after a restart, it comes back on.
Not even sure where to start to look for a problem.
Any ideas?
209k miles and runs fine otherwise.

Do you know where I might find a photo of where the connector is under the seat?
Thanks.

You are going to need a better scanner that can read Toyota SRS codes. Autozone's might be able to do it. This is a problem I've seen on 4th gen 4runners, GXs and 100 series Landcruiser... conveniently all in production around the same time.

I had this same issue on my Accord, driver's side sealt belt buckle. Honda replaced it free of charge as it was a safety device, even though the car was about 10 years old and had over 100K miles, they stated that safety devices have a lifetime warranty. Wonder if Toyota has something similar.

I just bought a GX470 and the airbag light was on. I was able to read the code by jumping OBD port 4 and 13 (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gx-...-light-on.html). The code I got was 25, which is the seat position sensor. This is a pretty common issue apparently, because the wires aren't quite long enough. The sensor is found under the drivers seat (there is no passenger seat position sensor, probably because the airbag is farther away). Under the seat it is on the seat rail closest to the passenger side. It's probably easiest to look at this by unbolting the seat and leaning it backwards against the 2nd row. When I looked at mine the wires didn't appear to be broken, but I detached that portion of the harness (this will require also removing the seatbelt buckle) and opened up the harness so I could see the wires and one was snapped! I just soldered in a new length of wire and reassembled and voila-the light was gone. Obviously it could actually be a sensor issue, but if you're lucky it will just be a broken wire.
