However, with regard to fake wood, the '02 model has different wood (darker--more real) than previous years. Also, what does the '03 4Runner have now?? Fake marble...Ok.

lexguynj, i bought my 4Runner in '02 because i wanted a very capable rig to off-road with. I do off-road quite often...gonna tear my running boards pretty soon! And i know it is a proven truck with tremendous off-roading potential.

That is why i bought it. The '03 is a great truck too. Just different needs for me.

Thanks.
I fully undestand and no fighthing needed brother!
I do admire your enthusiasm and faith in your truck. It's your baby and I understand that. Either way, either generation 4runner is great!

As for the seating position. I don't hate it. I'm coming from a Honda S2000, which is the ultimate on the floor seating position, inches above the ground, so maybe that's why I like the 4Runner. It doesn't give you a tippy feeling. It's a very comfortable, secure position. Again, maybe because I am very used to my S2000.
PBM317, I too am thinking about getting a new 4runner sport or limited. One thing that bothers me a little is how my old 4runner seems to have a small gas tank along with it's poor fuel economy. Are you finding that you have to fill up your gas tank all the time, maybe this time around the new 4runners have a much larger tank to last longer. I need the V8 version by the way! Thanks!

Default Gas Mileage

The 4Runner with V8 has been getting decent gas mileage so far. I"m averaging close to 17-18 around town. Close to 22 on the highway. Gas tank is 23 gallons now I believe. I usually fill it every 350 miles or so, but it only fills 20 gallons. So I don't run it dry. So I don't know how that compares to your 4Runner. GX470 has the same size gas tank, and I'd guess slightly worse gas mileage due to some extra weight.

You know that is not as bad as it sounds, my GS430 averages around that mileage, however it too has a large gas tank, so I don't feel like I am filling up all the time.

I'd have to say the new 4runner is better in every respect now. I was just checking out the videos on the website (4runner's mini website) and I love the silver and the thought of that huge V8 in the that nice looking 4runner body, same as you have now.

Man, I am loving the new 4runner and the thought of being behind that incredible V8 they plunked down into that engine bay.

I can't get this new 4runner out of mind for some reason. Especially now that it has the sports suspension, NAV and upgrade JBL audio system.

So now it's between the New 4runner Limited, GX or new RX330? I can't decide!

The GX is still nice and looks good, but you can't deny what a great job Toyota did with the new 4runner.

Hey guys, just read this thread and I am in the same position as lexusguynj.
Not sure what car I want, leaning more towards the 4runner sport than the GX. Might even consider the new RX330 synergy.

I hear there is a special financing rate on the 4 runners now and they are going close to invoice price. I rather get a bargain and have a higher resell down the road.

Looking at getting the V6 sport edition with the Navigation option, in that lighter blue color.

Here is a link to this beautiful car. Be sure to click on the pictures

That sounds like great news on the special financing rate!

Like I said before, the GX looks nice, just a little bulky, so it's a preference of course that I believe the new 4runner looks sportier.

I have not seen the new RX330 in person yet and looking forward to it. Maybe it will not be as manly as the other 2 trucks? Still something about the new 4runner with the V8 is awesome and they should have slapped a Lexus badge on that version.

Default too bad

They had to style it with those squared off fender openings. I'm not a big fan of fenders that square off around the tire. What shape are the tires????? I'm hoping youre looking at getting one with one color all around. The ones with the black fender flarres look cheap.

The fully loaded version has the monotone color, where the sport version has the plastic / vinyl fenders, which some like.

I like the monotone look also, but I like the Sport Edition's rims and the white wall lettering on the tires.
