Default Height control switch illuminated?

Not sure if I am going crazy, have owned the truck for 10 years. Looked down this evening and noticed that the switch for ride comfort, height adjustment was dark. Is it supposed to be illuminated. And if so, as simple as popping out switch and replacing green led bulb?

Yes is supposed to be illuminated.

If it's like most Toyota switches, there's a tiny clear filament bulb with a green "condom" over it to make it green. It comes in a plastic twist socket. If you have some 3mm leds you can replace it with a led. Just twist the wires around the socket and it will never burn out again.

Here's what it looks like:

Has anyone ever found a cheaper source than the dealer for this style bulbs? They are in the $10/ea+ range from Toyota/Lexus!

Yeah, use 3mm or 5mm LEDs. You can probably find LEDs at radio shack. You need white or warm white.

You simple undo the the filament bulbs terminals from the plastic socket, then wrap the LED pos / neg terminals around the plastic socket just like the filament bulb.

I did it in my Tundra on several switches. It takes a few seconds, very easy. No soldering involved.....

Depending on the lumens, the LEDs will be brighter than the filament bulb. If it's too bright and you don't like it cut the tip of the LED off with a dremel or lightly sand the tip until it's frosted.

Try you local dealer. You'd save on shipping but I bet they would be more than $3.31.

I'm telling you buy a bag of warm white LEDs online. You can buy a lot for $5-$10, easily enough to outfit all of you switches and have extra to sell off to other GX owners.

I have a lot of loose LEDs but I'm not sure if I have warm white. When I get home later I'll see what I can find. If I have some I'll do the swap to show you.

I was wondering the same on whether this should be illuminated. But since I don't change the ride setting, why bother replacing the bulb.

Forgive my ignorance When you say cover comes off first are you referring to the console cover that the switch sits on top of or do you mean pry the cover of the actual switch off then remove switch from console panel in place

Thank you

There's a DIY on how to open/replace these bulbs...use the Search feature.
