Why is it "better", because it's a TRD part.

I prefer comfort setting on my shocks, what would be my best aftermarket choice for a more Lexus supple ride? It's been stated the 5100's are closer to the sport ride and are more firm. I already went with 4runner rear coils which are nice and a little on the firmer side so I would like a shock with a little more softer feel.

Truck has 140K, this is the first time spending money on it for non scheduled maintanence. Between this, a miata and two motorcycles and 3 bicycles...I am just resigned to the idea of paying to play. LOL...remember the one who dies with the most toys....wins!

Alright. Job done. No way that top bolt was coming out. Cut it off with sawzall. And the top retaining cap does not come with the shock. Good thing I bought two ahead of time. There was no way I was getting those suckers off. 10 years corrosion. But the good news...what a difference in ride. Fronts not so bad but they will be next. Just don't plan on doing them myself.

Glad to hear you got them on! I don't know how the 5100s will ride so I can't do that just in case I decide to back to stock. Since my GX has lived its life in Houston a little penetrating oil should do the trick...it did on my Tundra which was also a Houston truck.
Are you talking about part number 48597A below? And how did the 2 shock cushions look; 48530 G & K? Any signs of cracking / dry rotting etc. My GX has over 100K miles so I'm going get all new hardware below.
