Right, I was told I just needed the shocks and could reuse the boot, springs, etc.

I decided to just buy the replacement shocks from bilstein (front and back) and nothing else for now. I haven't noticed any issues with my air bags.

My brother is doing the install for me. If I help him, I'll take some pic and will try and do a DIY write up.

But first, I'm trying to find the best price I can so far shockwarehouse.com has all 4 for about $790 with free shipping. I sent an email to shockwarehouse inquiring if they have any discounts available for our forum.

If anybody else come up with better pricing please let me know and I'll do the same.

Does anyone know if there is a difference between the Bilstein's "made for" Arnott Suspension and the regular ones, other than color?

+1, I would go with the regular bilsteins for the 4Runner. Can't be much difference to justify the cost.

Bilstein 5100's have been talked about on this forum as well as the toyota120 forum. I believe if you sourced the 5100's to fit the same year 4runner they would work and save you money from the "custom" bilstein sold on the conversion websites. Someone with direct knowledge will chime in I'm sure. I am also in the market to compliment my new rear coil conversion. KYB also has shocks/struts that would fit and they have a good name

x2

You can get front and rear Bilstein 5100s for a 4Runner for $313 + s/h.
The Arnott GX Bilsteins front and rear are $799.50 + s/h.

I doubt any of us would be able to tell the difference between the Arnetts and the 5100s. There are plenty of V8 4Runners using 5100s without any problems. If you want that plush Lexus ride you should stick w/ OEM. If you don't mind a little firmer ride go w/ Bilsteins. I keep my GX 2nd to the last and last Sport mode so I personally don't mind a firmer ride.

Has anyone actually done this? Any downside other than the sport/comfort adjustment not working?

Theres a member here (chrisvr6) that put 5100s in the rear and there's a couple of members on other forums that have put them up front. One of those members lifted the front 1" using the 5100s up front.

No downside other than not having comfort / sport settings and the ride being a little firmer compared to stock.

EDIT: I just ordered a pair of 5100s for the rear for $148.70 shipped. I still don't know what I'm going to run up front yet.

Any lights to disarm if you use 5100's all around? I'm still trying to eliminate the"OFF" light blinking from my rear coil conversion.

No lights if you're just replacing the shocks.
