They are fakes. I dunno where they got that number lol. Best bet is to look,at German and JDM bulb ratings.

They are not fake anything. 4500k is certainly a point on the Kelvin scale. Now whether or not they really meet the output is another story, but the same can be said for any cheap Chinese bulb, so it's not just 4500k.

Yes the JDM products are better, hence why I suggested Morimoto's - known to be one of the better bulbs/products. German - good luck finding a true German HID bulb. Even the claimed Phillips HID for sale on various internet sites are NOT German. There is a very LONG thread on HID Planet discussing this very topic.

No they are chinese replicas of JDM HID's. There is no 4500K in a respectable sellers list lol. I mean its just silly. But if they work its all good. But 90% of all HID kits in the USA will be replicas. Even the so called Phillips.

Morimoto's are good. But retrofit OEM are best. My Morimoto harness was bad but the LED power bulb was cool. But I had two sets of Toyota OEM Denso Ballasts in the GX. I never had anything like it before and I've had allot of HID kits. Super fast on and reliable.

PS: not that I will be able to afford $500 for 2x HID kits again for a while.....

It's semantics,,, there's nothing silly about 4500k, he is basically saying what I have already said at least a couple of times; very few of the "claimed" Kelvin ratings meet the rating due to poor quality control of the Chinese made bulbs. In fact you can buy a replacement bulb rated at the same Kelvin and it will be a different.

You will also see a difference in color between two different brands with the same rating. The higher quality bulbs like Morimoto and Osram tend to be closer to the claimed Kelvin rating. The DDM 4500k bulbs are closer to say a 5000k or slightly higher in a Morimoto bulb.

Okay here are some pictures.

The first is a distance shot of my Tundra with 5000k H1 Morimoto bulbs in a Morimoto Mini Projector and 35w 4500k HID DDM fogs. - see the difference in color?

The 2nd is a close up of the projector retrofit I did which involve cracking open the light and modifying the halogen housing to accommodate the projector and shroud then resealing everything.

The 3rd is an off angle of the 5000k Morimoto's and DDM 4500k fogs.

The 4th is a shot from the Tundra driver's seat and the light/cut-off projected on my garage.

The 5th is a closer shot of the Tundra straight on.

The 6th (next post) is of the Tundra and GX side-by-side. The GX has 55w 4500 DDM HID kit. They are very bright and there is some glare since they are installed in a halogen projector, but it's not to bad since I think the projector does a pretty good job at focusing the light, but it pales in comparison to how focused the Morimoto HID projector makes the light - no glare at all. I like the color on the GX and I would not want to go any "bluer" that's for sure.

I will say the Morimoto's have a nice look to the light. Very crisp with off angle hues of blue and purple - the pictures really don't how that. The color output is very OEM'ish looking IMO.

The DDM fogs in their 4500k set the low beams off nicely I think. There is some glare since they were simply installed in a halogen reflector housing, but is low enough not to be bother to on-coming traffic. They really brighten up the foreground nicely.

Ok been researching these bulbs and it seems like 2 types--you have the standard MORIMOTO 3FIVE H11which put the return wire on the top when locked into place. Next you have their newest called Morimoto XB35 H11B which put the return wire on the bottom when you lock them in--they say eliminating the Shadow effect? So what bulb are we wanting to install into our stock projectors? Has anyone tried both bulbs and seen the difference? Here is a Vid discussing the diff--

I am running the 3Fives and the only reason because they fit easily into my projector housing - the XB35's would have required some modification.. The XB35 are their latest bulb and they are suppose to be slightly better - better output and more true to their color and their price reflects this fact. I read mixed reviews, but the initial negative reports came when they first hit the market and there was apparently a bad batch of bulbs that hit the market at that time. TRS took care of those customers with replacement bulbs.

I would really like to see how their 5000k turns out on your GX. I was debating between the 4300k and 5000k and only went with 4300k in the Tundra only because of the brighter output and some of the reviews I read on Tundra Talk and HID Planet - it was kind of a 50/50 split between those that liked the 5000k and those that preferred the 4300k.

They will certainly be more blue than my 4300k, but I am willing to bet they are less blue then the 4500k DDM's shown in my GX. Go for it, can't go wrong with the Morimotos.

What kind of mods are we talking about? It just doesn't snap into the socket housing like stock ones--they claim they do??

So long as the base is the same as OEM (H11 I think) no modification is required.
