Aftermarket Roof Mount DVD Hint
I recently purchased a 2004 GX470 with ML/ Nav but not RSES.
So, I put in an aftermarket roof/ceiling mount DVD in place of the dome light.
I wrongly assumed the Rear Audio control in the dome light was stand alone.
Removing that unit disables the CD changer in the glove box, and you get the "External Unit Not Connected" error when pressing 'Disc' button on the head unit.
So, take it out of the dome light and hide it between the headliner and roof - leaving it plugged into the harness and your CD changer will continue to work.
