Default Costco's Extended warranty on vehicles

I just became aware of Costco is offering extended vehicles warranties on cars/trucks that are I believe 10 yrs or younger and less than 60,000 miles on them. It's a premier policy with 100, 250 or 500 deductible and 3, 4 up to I think 6 additional years.

I just purchased this warranty for my husband's 2007 F250 4x4 with 6/60000 additional time and mileage. It looks like a pretty good plan with no out of pocket expenses other than your deductible.

The Truck also does not have to be currently in warranty.

Vehicle:
2007 Ford Srw super duty
Plan:
Premium Care
Deductible:
$100
Term (Add-On):
72/60,000
Current Odometer:
31,752
Expiration Miles1:
91,752
Expiration Date1:
6/11/2019
1Whichever Comes First
VPP Cost:
$2,152.00
Sales Tax:
$172.16
Total Cost:
$2,324.16

Down Payment:
$232.42
Number of Payments:
18
Monthly Payments:
$116.21

I have an extended warranty on my 06 lexus now but it will expire the end of Aug so I'm thinking of getting this for my truck also 4/48 I already got my money's worth with the extended warranty in Jan 2011 when my Lexus Link went and it cost almost 4200.00 to fix. I only paid Troy 1538.00 for 3/75,000

The warranty is also transferable.

From how it was explained to me the only qualification is under 10 years and I think it was 60,000 miles (call to get accurate info) and be a member of Costco.

I dealt with Nick Rubio? I had called several times with questions and he took the time to answer all of them.

I bought my 2006 GX470 new and after the manufacturer 4/48000 I purchased the extended through Troy for another 3/75000 which is again bumper to bumper and just a couple of months after doing this my Lexus Link failed along with my mirror motor and the bill was almost 4200.00 so the 1538.00 I paid I got my monies worth.

I'm due to expire with that coverage the end of Aug and I will have about 58000 (right now I have around 55000) It's summer so we will be going back and forth to the shore. I have never bought an extended warranty for any of my trucks prior to this because we never kept them longer than 3 years but I really like this truck and I really haven't seen anything that I really like better. My husband's truck is used for work so he plans on keeping it so the warranty will be a write off for us against his business and give us a piece of mind that it will be covered for another 6/60000

I understand that the GX470 is a very reliable truck but I have had pass problem like an alternator that went at 23000 miles (I think that was the mile) Lexus Link computer and a mirror motor and repairs on the truck can be expensive if something should go wrong again. To me 2400.00 for peace of mind for the next 4 years is OK with me. No cash out of pocket other than deductible and they deal with the dealership direct.

The warranty can also be transferred or pro rated if you should sell it and you have 60 days to cancel the contract. I also trust Costco to stand behind the products that they sell or endorse. I have been a member since the opened by me about 14 years ago and they have fantastic customer service.

The number to call and ask questions is on the attachment that I had attached to my post.

I suppose the value exists, if someone feels they will be spending at least $2300 in repairs over 60K miles. When I bought my GX, I was offered a no deductible warranty to 100K (tuck had 40 on it at the time) for $1500 and I refused. Total out of pocket for anything that would have been covered by the policy for the duration....$0

I just spent $1200 on new air springs and shocks at 106K miles. Warranty companies are betting you won't use the service, so they can keep the cash. I was better off keeping my cash for when I needed it.

Just my 2C.

Understand completely and in the 30 yrs that we have been buying new trucks we have never bought an extend warranty. I'm with you I tend to hedge my bets. My thought process is I will have the truck for at least the next 3-4 yrs and in that time there will be no surprises other than the deductible. I will also have a warranty that I can transfer to.a new owner when it comes time to sell if I choose to sell before the 4 yrs. I have had problems in the pass with the truck so this decision is not a careless choice. I've already had about 4200.00 in warranty work done under my first extended warranty that I bought from Troy for around 1538.00 so I'm ahead about 2600. which is around the cost of the new warranty. Not to mention my truck is going in for service because I think I may need a new motor for my seat on the drivers side and the Alternator has been replaced at around 25000 miles. Love this truck but it hasn't been without problems.
