I'm sure it can happen but 9.99 times out of 10 if you damage an ECU while jump starting another car it was due to user error IE: installing the jumper cable clamps the wrong way. Our GX ECUs are no more delicate than the next vehicle.
Here's what my manual says about the GX needing a jump. Nowhere in the manual does it say not to jump start another car.

I recently bought a 2007 GX and it was fully loaded with the Sport Package, Navigation, Full Clear Bra, Third Row Seats and Air, Tow Package, Mark Levinson Sound and full Factory Tint all around. The only item I have added to it has been a full set of Weather-Tech Floor Mats. They fit like a glove and are very heavy duty, worth every penny. The GX had all sorts of basic maintenance done to it prior to me purchasing it by the Lexus Dealership, including putting on a nice set of Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus's. I couldn't be more happy with this truck. It is everything I expected from a Lexus and more. I've had many BMW's and Mercedes and this truck beats them all in terms of reliability, capability, dependability and pure luxury. There is nothing I don't absolutely love about my GX!

Thanks for killing my buzz, lol. I've already put a dashboard cover on to HOPEFULLY avoid THAT problem! As to the rest, I will just hope for the best. The one owner previously had very few problems according to the extensive maintenance records. And prior to buying it, the Lexus Dealership I bought it from did the timing belt/water pump work, put in a new battery, replaced all brake pads and put a nice set of Cooper tires on it. So, I think I'm good to go for a while. Thanks!

As far as jump starting goes, you can get a portable battery unit (that also includes traditional clamps) that will usually work right through the cigarette lighter. It cost around 45 dollars, I've lent it to someone who needed a boost and it worked well.

As a datapoint, our '04 with 110K miles had its timing belt, belt tensioner and water pump all replaced; the mechanic noticed corrosion on the radiator, a common problem at about this age, so you'll want to keep an eye on that.

I would think that if you needed a jump start and plugged in the external portable battery unit that it might blow the fuse. I think the current draw would far greater then the cigarette lighter is rated for.

Well, it's capable of doing a trickle charge through the outlet for those are less mechanically inclined. It can take up to 20 minutes, so a direct connection to the battery is still the better way to do it.

A few things that went wrong in my 06' were a front shock went bad, new radiator and all were covered under cpo. I also did a trans flush, cheap insurance, $200 at my dealer. Other than that, congrats! It's a great ride.
