Apparently Lexus isn't shipping a lot of the GX's with the rear DVD system installed. (One dealer told me 10-15%)

yThe dealers have been trying to talk me into a 3rd party player, but I'd feel bad not having the integration that the factory installed unit would have. Maybe it is trivial, but here are the integrated advantages.

The DVD system is installed down load in the center console
The DVD can be played up front if in Park (someone please tell me how to disable that.)
You can see the Navigation screen in the back.

Comments are well appreciated. If I hold out for Rear DVD I might wait a bit.

Don't know how to "disable" but...The DVD only plays when the car is in park with emergency brake on and you can manually switch the screen back to the NAV map, etc. while it is playing in the back.

I'm sure soon someone will write something up on how to enable it regardless of the brakes.

Ive never done it before, but Im sure its a wire that tells the player when the car is in each gear. I would think if you could ground the right wire (Park) it would disable it. A lot of people do this with aftermarket installs, not sure about what it would envolve with a factory install though. Search the electronics section or try other forums.

Where I am most GX's come in Level II, III and IV packages. Every other one I saw had the rear entertainment system.

Really? Maybe it was just the dealer giving me a line. Trying to get me to buy what he had.
