GX470 a Great Value?
I'm looking to replace my Escalade with a Lexus SUV to tow a 20' boat and using as a family hauler for snowboard season. So naturally I started looking at the LX but after testing driving a GX and finding out how much they go for I'm sold. It seems like for the money it can't be beat!
After doing some research It seems like the only problems they have is with the air suspension in the rear but is there anything else I'm missing?
Any years to avoid? Currently looking at the 2004-2006 with around ~100k miles for around ~15k.
Thanks!

Air suspension, transfer case leaks are the main issues you'll see.
Look for one that has maintenance records - you'll pay a little more, but you'll know that it's been taken care of.

Also seized front calipers, and cracked dashes.

I totally agree that the GX 470 is a great value. I looked at everything when wanting to replace my 2005 GX 470. I ended up buying a 2009 GX470. It makes for a great tow vehicle.
Shameless plug ....LOL... My 2005 is listed in the Classified Section.
Good luck on your search.

Privet!
I like your Russian Federation flag. Privet!
Do not worry about anything. GX is a great car, very reliable and strong. Get 2007 and up. A little improvements like audio streaming and Navigation screen resolution make you more satisfied.

Like the landcruiser, the 2005+ will have the variable timing engine with more power. 2003 and 2004 had the issues with the cracked dash.
I wanted a 100 series landcruiser, but ended up with the GX. A small part of me feels like I settled, but it more than fits my needs. Much like you, while looking at LCs, I frequently saw GXs. They are more affordable and far more prevalent. It got to the point in my LC search where I was going to have to start traveling 100+ miles just to check some out. Whereas the GXs where everywhere and I could get a 2005+ with fewer miles for far less than an LC/LX. I got my 2005 GX with 110K for $16.5K. An equivalent 100 series would have been over $20K and it would have taken me a while to find.

I traded an Escalade for my GX too! ha ha! I miss that truck sometimes, but not the zillions of mechanical problems i was having with it....
One advantage the GX has over the LXs and Landcruisers of similar vintage, is since it is smaller, and has the same engine, it pulls it's weight MUCH better than they do and has a considerable amount of muscle comparatively.

Warranty a Must
I just bought a 03 with 109k miles...I bought a two year warranty with mine. I have always owned foreign luxury cars...however maintenance and repairs are pricey. Warranty's are worth; although mine had the service records (Lexus Dealer); but you never know when something is going to go downhill. It is a great truck!!

GW470 is the best Lexus I have owned.
I have owned five Lexus cars/SUVs, Gx470 is the best among them.
It has zero rattles, zero problem, and is always running very smooth and quiet.
