Airbag light on only when sitting in drivers seat
I have an 04 and the airbag light comes on when started and stays on. I noticed when I start it without sitting in the drivers seat the light goes out. It will illuminate again when I sit or apply pressure to the seat. I looked up the component list on Sewell's website and there is a airbag seat sensor under the drivers seat. My question is it seems to be the issue however it also seems to be working to pick up the presence of a driver. Has anyone had a similar issue? I have an aftermarket warranty that a Rep says it doesn't cover???. I'm assuming if the light goes out without weight on the seat should I replace the sensor? Or is there a "bladder" under the seat cover that may need replacement? I would hate to use the dealer if I could replace the sensor myself. The part is appx. $50

Anybody? For $50 I may just replace the drivers seat position sensor and cross my fingers

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for 45 - 60 mins? It may be a long shot but disconnecting the battery will reset the ECU and potentially clear up the light issues if it is just a bit wonky. I'd try it first if you already haven't, worse case scenario you still have the light on and have to reprogram the radio and windows. If it all works out you aren't out any cash.

Are you under warranty ? if not it is an expensive job from the dealer, this defects exists is some models of GX as wire harness was the replacement solution to this defect and Lexus issued a TSB to solve this , To cut short, you need to replace the harness below the Driver seat, but for that there are whole lot of other stuff to be removed and disconnected( Instrument Panels / Front Seats, Headliners, Seat Belts. The affected models were 2005 to 2009 GX models. , it is an expensive job to do by yourself. PM your email, will post it to you.

Had code read and came back B1153, which is a TSB that Mann777 provided to me for a faulty drivers side front seat inner belt assembly. I guess it was a common problem for 03-05. The part# is 7323060420B0(gray interior) and runs about $50. Sewell didn't have the part available online. I did however find it on other Lexus part sites but will probably buy it from my local dealership. I believe the part originally had a problem and wouldn't want to buy a part that hasn't been remedied. Again a big Thanks to Mann777 for his help.

Hey, anyone still have that TSB floating around they could message me? Or just let me know the tab # and I'll pull it off the web somewhere? I don't want to visit the stealership for what looks like an easy fix. Thanks all for the great info! Can email me at nwdisasterready @ gmail.com as well (sans spaces)

My truck had this issue when I first got it, was able to unbolt the front seat and tilt it back, found a damaged section of the wiring harness under the seat, cut and extended it, no problems since (6 years). Years and years of the memory seating function moving the driver's seat back and forth weakens the wires in the harness as it's a bit too short.

Likely, but not certain. If it's a cheap part, give it a try.
