I did it about a month ago, all by myself.
It was not hard. Get a longer ratchet with a small socket so you can move the belt tensioner easily. Removing the old belt was very easy...even from the top.

When i was routing the new belt, it was easier for me to look from under the SUV. This is where i used the ratchet too, to pull the tensioner when installing the new belt. It was easier to pull from under the car and adjust the belt, than going from above/top of the engine.
Follow the belt diagram for proper routing.

Overall, it took me about 20 mins. If you have a helper, it can be done even faster.

Not sure. I've seen these belts fail at 60k miles... and others last 150k+ miles.
For $35, i did not want to risk it.

I dont even track it by millage, if it looks cracked I replace it. Just because I am paranoid and my dad always told me. Keep your spare belt somewhere in the car. You never know when you could use a temporary out in the middle of no where. As far as I can remember in every car I have owned I take the old serpentine and put it in my car bug out bag. Contents of the bag are: 2 bottles of water, tow strap, jumper cables, flares, blanket, 1st aid kit, and a 24 inch piece of 2x4. Yes at some point this bag has come in so handy.
