Is it important to get it with NAV?
Hi! I’m really interested in getting the new GX however I can’t decide if to spend the extra on the NAV.
I have never used one before and since I’m not very good in directions. I was wondering how accurate it really is.
Can you drive to a new destination without planning your route on a map, by just simply following the voice commands? Or do you still have to plan your route and the Nav is just a nice little toy to play with when your in traffic?

The navigiation system allows you to enter your destination via address, stored locations, points of interest(theaters, restaurants, hospital, etc through a built in database), and by locating through the map. Once you enter this destination the system will calculate a route based on a few options (use freeways, or use local roads) and then it will visually show the turns to take, and you can optionally turn on the voice commands to indicate the upcoming turns.
With the new system (in the GX) you can give your commands via voice and the system will make the entries for you. This is quite useful because the old style systems uses to require you to stop the vehicle to perform most functions.
In my current 2000 GS400 they integrated the radio, climate, and trip computer into the same display. Is this also the case with the GX?
