Just found this thread through Google: http://us.lexusownersclub.com/forums...howtopic=50510

I wonder if swapping to something like this (http://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/11...-player-1.html) is a big job.

Do you have any wired headphones you can try out? If you can plug in the headphones into the OEM jack and hear the DVD though your factory speakers that means whoever installed it hooked the audio up to run through your factory system and youll probably have a video input next to the audio inputs, which will be hidden on the DVD / monitor.

Try looking under your front seats for a hidden video / audio input box. Some times they will use a slave / master type system. The monitor will be wired to the video box which will be hidden under a front seat and itll have multiple inputs to run extra monitors / DVD / gaming systems etc.

That wont be too hard to install. You already have one installed so the hole is already cut for you in the headliner. All you need to do is run the wires. Youll need a LOC so you can plug the red / white audio cables from the monitor / DVD into your factory headunit so you can hear it through your factor speakers.

No problem. I hope the RCAs are hidden on the back of your DVD / monitor.

the headphone jack down in the center console only listens to the stereo. It looks to be 100% aftermarket. Even the headphones which I thought were Lexus brand are actually Audiovox.

I will look at prying the DVD player open to see if there are hidden jacks but I am not optimistic

Default Lost Power to Overhead invision DVD player.

Hi All,

First of all excuse me as i am not able to find where else to ask this question as i am fairly new to the forum. I recently bought an 08 GX470 with after market overhead invision DVD G9 installed in it.

Very first issue was Christmas lights lighting up my speedometer panel. Because of this forum i found out that it was my loose gas cap and then i replaced it with OEM. After that i disconnected the negative and positive terminal of the battery cleaned it and reconnected it. All the lights VSC Trac Check engine etc were gone.

But another complex problem has started. My little one notice that he can't turn on the overhead DVD player. I checked all the relevant fuses including the ones under the hood and driver side under the dash everything looks fine. I took the car to Lexus dealer but they couldn't find anything either and told me it has been installed after market and not by them so they can't figure out as they don't have wiring diagrams.

Just now i have opened it up by opening 4 screws and checked all the cables are connected. The dome lights with that DVD player work but DVD itself doesn't turn on no matter what. I have also checked the ON/OFF switch at the back side of it.

Looking to find out if any body has gone through the similar problem????

Welcome to the forum!

Here's the manual. See page 24. Is the parental switch in the correct position? Maybe toggle the parental switch on and off a few times. Could try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery again.

Might want to show this to your dealer:

Hi 470 reasons,

Thank you for posting this. I did go through this manual before and couldn't find any thing at the back, like parental control switch. I will take a picture of the back and post it as well.

These are the pictures of the backside of G9. The manual mentions the parental control switch but there is nothing.

I'm thinking the parental control switch is the on/off switch. With that switch off, the kids can't turn on the player via the front panel switch or remote control.Total parental control! LoL!

Smile Replaced it to Audivoxx MTG avxmtg10u

LOL. You are right total Parental Control.

I took it to the professional Audio Video Shop that my Local Dealer recommended. They took 5 plus hours to investigate and the tech over there also referred to the manual for G9 but that doesn't tell anything to anyone. Finally they said that its dead

I looked at the other 10 inch players and Audivox MTG AVXMTG10U was on sale for $275. So told them to install it. Well they had to run the wiring again as i saw him taking the navigation out and doing something . Then he created a moulding around it and it was installed. Total Cost: $400 plus 25.99 for extended warranty from warrantech.

But now everything looks Good and works perfectly. Had to do all this for my upcoming move to PA from GA so my little one can be busy while i drive.
