Extended Warranty
Hello all,
New Owner of a 2007 GX here with almost 75K miles. I priced out the Costco extended warranty plan that will cover the vehicle for an additonal 4 years/48k miles. The coverage is an exclusionary policy, almost everything is covered. The price is approximately $3500 with a $100 deductible. I have to get it before the car gets to 75k miles, and thought I would ask the experts on here for an opinion. I am quite confident that this plan is legitimate, I know a couple of people that have had repairs covered without incident; and the fact that Costco is associated with the plan is reassuring.
I would like your opinions on the cost vs cost of potential repairs. I know the engine/tranny is solid, but I am worried about the Navigation System and air suspension components.
Thanks in advance for your responses.
Mike

My brother in-law has a import shop and said the GX is a very good vehicle, little trouble if you do maintance. He did say he has replaced the catalytic converters on several of the GX he works on. We bought a extended warranty on a Mercedes we bought and it paid for itself. We are looking to buy a GX and my wife thinks we should pay the extra for a extended warranty. It comes down to if you can afford the extra money up front it may (may) save you down the road.

I just got it last week. I have all the maintenance records from the lexus dealer...looks like everything was done reasonably on time. Oil changes were done every 8k miles (a little long for my taste but probably fine with this engine). The 30k and 60K dealer services were done as well. I have found cheaper warranties in the 2500 dollar range, but I feel more confident in the likelihood of the Costco one paying out when needed.
I am worried mainly about air suspension issues and issues with the electronics/switchgear which are little issues but can get very expensive.

Be sure the items on your "concern list" are covered. Double check.
Then price out the cost of repair against your warranty.
My bet is on letting it ride w/o the speedy warranty.
