Warranty expire in 4 month - what to do
Hello
I just have my leaking water pump replaced under warranty. This was discovered by Toyota dealership where I have serviced my GX, just regular maintenance, oil change etc...
Has anyone done anything like full car diagnostic before warranty expire? I talked to the Lexus and guess what the answer I got - correct they do not provide this kind of service even if I pay for that. I was told that i have to come and tell them what the problem is and they do the job. Nothing else outside of your request. This is why I stuck with my Toyota dealership - they do not put pressure on me but always inspect vehicles very deeply and telling what the problem is and what is the cost and so on everything else is up to me...
I am thinking to take my GX there again and do full diagnostic if they can do that.

How many miles? Anything less than 150k and I would let the warranty go.
You could always take it to an Indy and have them do a "prepurchase" inspection. Whatever they find, take it to Lexus and have them fix it.
Then, drink all their coffee and eat all their doughnuts.

LOL Had no time to empty their coffee shop. I have 65 000 km ~ 41 000 miles purchased when it was 58 000 km. I know it is almost nothing however better to know other then not.

FWIW, Toyota/Lexus water pumps can be prone to premature failures. This has been happening for many years on the V6 engines--as long as 20 years or more. By premature, I mean less than 90K miles. Most folks have the water pump replaced whenever they have the timing belt on the engine replaced since the water pump removal is part of that job--no extra labor.
I wouldn't get too excited by a failed water pump if that's the only problem you've ever had with your GX. These things happen. But, if it bugs you, have an independent garage do a full diagnostic now, so you have time to deal with Lexus before the warranty expires.

I'm in the same boat - just a few months away from warranty expiration. Until last month, I was absolutely going to buy the extended warranty for piece of mind. I figured it would pay for itself if I had both rear shocks and height senors go bad, which is really the only thing that worries me. I've changed my mind. My '02 GS430 has been the picture of reliability and durability, which is what I had hoped for when I bought it. And that experience is why I bought my GX and why you may have bought yours. We expect reliabilty and durability; Lexus delivers. As I've thought about it over and over, it'll take quite the repair bill to come out even on the extended warranty much less come out ahead. I'm a peace with my decision...
