Here is a measurement comparison between GX470, X5 and the Mercedes. The GX is definitely beat in the motor category. Tried to put the table in HTML but no luck.

The GX beats all of them in (X5 and Mereceds):
Length
Width
Height (course with a body on frame, that doesn't necessarily roomier as it gives up a lot with a higher floor height).
Front Leg Room.
Luggage Capacity.

GX Wins in the following additional categories just against the X5:

Front Head Room.
Rear Head Room
Read Shoulder room
Rear Leg Room.

Hip room still being researched on Edmunds.

Looknow12, the X-5 was the 3.0 (6 cylinder).

Actually, it is 2 in the front and three in the MIDDLE, and then 2 in the back. There is even a little headrest for the middle person. I agree though, it's 2 very small kids in the back. I guess you could put an adult back there to go around town, restaurant, movies, etc, but I wouldn't drive to Las Vegas in the back.

I think it was the gearing on the X-5, GX has a lot more torque but seemed more refined. Additionally, the test route for x-5 had a wide open empty four lane street while on the GX I was taken on busier street.

I just read the SUV shoot out in Car and Driver and my minds made up its going to be the Lexus GX-470. Although they selected as number 1 the new VW SUV, Lexus was #2.

I can't believe Car and Driver placed the VW ahead of the GX either! The more I read and see pics of the GX, the more I like it.

For those of you who have seen the GX in person, how does it compare to the LX470 (interior, drive, etc...)?
