Old Man Emu shocks, back to original?
Hi
I bought a used GX470 and it came with Old Man Emu gas shock absorbers (only the shocks - no O.M.E. coil springs or other bits apparently)
Now I am considering taking them out. Firstly, I do not know how many miles they have done in my car (I bought the car through a middle man and didn't have the chance to ask the previous owner) and secondly because I have driven another GX with original shocks and it felt more comfortable.
Where I live the streets are pretty bad and I drive mostly at lower speeds now even on the open road, after becoming a daddy.
Although I enjoy the OME's ability at higher speeds and on corrugated surfaces very much, I mostly looking for comfort at this point.
Thoughts? Full original suspension back on or upgrade/replace the Old Man Emu suspension all the way with the coil springs, etc?
Eric

Stock shocks are $500 each. I installed bilstein 5100's5100's for an fj in the rear trying to diagnose an intermittent problem with the air ride. It rides nice when the air ride is not acting up. My dilema now is not knowing which coil springs i
should replace the airbags with.

I've been following threads like this one awhile trying to decide if I'll pursue OME replacement springs and shocks when my air suspension dies... I was under the impression that it would require customization to yank the air for a standard suspension. Is it a do-able option?!

I believe so. My mechanic says the connection is still there. All I have to do is buy the original shocks and connect them.
Don't get me wrong, I had OME in my pick-up and it really made a positive difference in the ride. But I am looking for comfort in my GX so that's why I want to go back to standard.
