Done, though I don't have specific instructions for a boot replacement just the whole axle.

I used reman axles on my Toyota Previa 4trac. The job wasn't hard but the manual was an essential item. Any extra digital copies sent this way would also be much appreciated!

then get you some cv grease from your local auto parts store and a food injector with a plastic needle. Unclamp the boots and pack the grease into the food injector. Slide that plastic needle underneath the boot lip and squeeze all that grease back in there. It may take 2-3 injectors worth. Reclamp with new hose clamps.

Enjoy a beer. You just saved yourself hundreds in labor cost...all for 15 minutes of work.
I just saw this older thread. I have leaking boots, but with no tears. so the re-grease, re-band is the way to go for me too. What does a food injector look like? And where do you buy one?

Thanks!

One more question. Is CV Grease anything special? Or can I just use the typical chasis lube for u-joints?

Thanks!

You're going to want to use the special CV joint grease. It's different.

Bauer26,
Could I get a copy of the manual mentioned in this thread? I've got to replace my 06 GX470 axles. Probably will go with the Cardones and repack and reboot my originals for back-up.
Thanks!

Bauer26,

Just noticed my inside boot is split on my 07 with 85k on the clock. I've done the axle shafts on a BMW X5 but would be interested to see if i can get a copy of the manual mentioned in this thread.

I used the Cardone brand on the X5 - bought at Amazon. Had good luck with it.

Thanks!

Default Axle part numbers needed

I have done quite a bit of searching here and Google trying to find part numbers for OEM FJ Cruiser front Axles to replace the ones on my GX. Does anyone happen to know the part numbers? Finding OEM parts online are usually about 25% cheaper than my local Toyota dealership. Any help would be much appreciated.

To anyone replacing their front CV Axles on 2003-2009 GX470s or 4Runners, here is a great youtube video showing the process in great detail. I will be performing this service in a week or so as my inner CV boots have been torn for an undisclosed amount of time and are no doubt in need of R&R after 185,000 miles on them. I am using Cardone 665235HD replacement parts, $150 for a pair of them shipped. I may reboot the OG parts if they do not appear too worn or have too much play.
