Can leaving the key in the ignition in the "lock" position make the battery die?
Hey everyone, first post. Just wondering if leaving the key in the ignition in the lock position causes the car to draw power from the battery.
Thanks
Thanks

Cool, thanks. I had my GX battery replaced last month and this morning it wouldn't start so I had to get jumped. The only thing I could think that would have caused it was the fact that I left the key in the ignition but I'll have to do some more troubleshooting.
Thanks

Its funny you post this. 3 weeks ago I was working on the GX and forgot the key in the ignition on lock position. The following morning I had to get a jump because my battery died.

I leave my key in the ignition most of the time, since it is in my garage, no problem. However, I stared this post, just before last Christmas

I have an 08, with the original battery and 66,000 miles. I had two occasions for no apparent reason where turning the ignition and click, click, click, no start.
When I did get a jump, started right up. Turned it immediately off and started without a jump. I have a testing device, which puts a load on the battery and it always read strong, that is why I didn't change the battery.
I went through the past winter (not as cold) running lots of accessories, no problem starting. I will change my battery this year because of age. I could never put my finger on what was reading a low voltage, or perceived low voltage and wouldn't let the starter ingauge.
To my knowledge, there is no relay on the GX, that prevents battery run down protection. I have on occasion, looked in my garage and seen the interior lights on, because one door was closed properly. I have left my visor mirror on, for who knows how longs. Car still started Life's little mysteries.
