Looking to buy a GX470 Question: Full-time 4-wheel drive
2008 Lexus GX470 uses the following descriptions:
- Permanent four-wheel-drive system
- Full-time 4-wheel drive
The four-wheel drive control lever has L-N-H (Low speed, Neutral, High speed).
Newbie Question: What does "N" actually do on the four-wheel drive control lever.
Does it simply place the vehicle into rear two-wheel drive??

NO!!!!L. N is for neutral, unlocks the entire drive train, disengages transmission from drive wheels, used when the truck is being towed on two wheels maybe. Unless you are rock climbing, the transfer case remains in H.

On the gear shift lever "P" is not for pass, and "R" is not for race.
Just kidding, welcome to the club. Note if you ever bump your transfer case level into neutral, when cleaning, loading, whatever, you car will not move. Think of it as free wheeling Your driveline is no longer connected to the motor.
