I have a 2008 GX with 30,000 miles on it. No issues at all but was thinking of doing a trans flush with lexus dealer just to get fresh fluid in it. I talked with my Lexus mech and he said it comes with the Worlds fluid where it doesnt need changed at least till 90K--

What do your guys think? Waste of money to do it now or just do it to clean it up and not worry about it till like 120K again lol.

Booyah unless if you find that the shifting is bit sluggish, and kinda jerks, then go for it. Otherwise, just a waste of money. I went by this method, that as soon you find symptom of shifting bit sluggishness, or while on roll the Auto gear trans has the slight jerk, I kinda had it done it myself. If you know what i mean. While replacing I also replaced the Steel Mesh Filter within the tyranny box.

Well no---No issues just thinking ahead and maybe getting fresh fluid in there and get rid of the factory stuff and contaminants if there are any?
You got to pull the pan to replace the filter correct?
Lexus is quoting me like $230 to do the whole flush

I had mine swapped just because I'm **** about it since I am not the first owner of my gx.

Toyota says it is a lifetime oil. It is pricey as quote tells ya.

I don't notice any differences pre and post swap.

I think that you have to think YEARS and mileage.

And the big one, do you have a lead foot?
Do you tow?
Are you the original owner and know where that fluid has been?

I have an 08 with 60,000. That fluid has been in there for 4 years. Just thinking out loud. I wouldn't feel comfortable with an 04, with 40,000 miles and the same fluid.

It also depends on how long you are going to keep the truck too. Obviously, do you have the extra $200.00 +/-
In my opinion, I don't like the word FLUSH. Drop the pan and do a mann777, if you have the skills. You can't believe the sludge that sticks to the bottom of that pan. I used to throw away Mobil 1 engine oil at 3000 miles. Still bothers me that Toyota, says its good for 5000. I think others have given good advise.

wonder why the hell carmakers still use the pan thing - that made my transmission oil change on the jeep a pita whereas on my g35 it's just a bolt to drain the transmission oil - easier than draining engine oil... and i have not heard of any transmission issue on the g35 either... makes you wonder...

lift the hose that passes through the radiator and get it all out. turn engine a couple of seconds and pump out torque converter. reconnect the hose and fill er up.

Per Toyota, the transmission fluid is good for the lifetime of the vehicle.

Important Information:
100,000 Maintenance Interval — Inspection only; ATF-WS does NOT require any flushing or changing during the life of the vehicle.

Never seen a GX470 transmission fail due to anything other than a severe leak. This includes many over 150k. This, however, is anecdotal, and shouldn't be used as a reason to sue me when your transmission blows up at 850k miles because the fluid failed.

Sweep

According to Lexus USA the service interval on the WS sealed transmissions for the GX is 60,000 if towing regularly, or 125,000 under normal conditions.

Mine was "changed" at 125k. It made little to no difference. It was a fight with the dealer as the service writer didn't understand the service interval. One call the Lexus USA customer service and it was all cleared up.
