Default ABS/VSC etc lit up like Christmas lights on the dash

I wonder what it could be? Note that there is no CEL. Did a search and another guy said a relay needed to be replaced. Crossing my fingers it's not anything more. It's at the dealership as of tonight.

We'll see.

They said some type of ABS ECU costs around $6K. This may need replacing. Yikes.

But they also said my brake fluid was showing a little low so I had them do a complete brake flush. My brakes feel firmer now? I had adjusted the height the day the xmas tree appeared and I understand the suspension uses the same brake fluid to operate the height mechanism?

They reset everything and hoping it stays unannounced. I had no idea these ECU parts were so darn pricey.

I hope the problem goes away with just resetting the ECU. Otherwise spending $6k on this is a bit too much.

Agreed. Hoping it is just the brake fluid, but we shall see. Haven't ran into a thread where a member had to shell out this much for a Toyota part. Insanity.

car-parts.com shows pricing on the ABS ECU between $150 and $400 although I am not sure if the ECU is coded to the car. No way I'd buy a factory ECU at that price !!

I second that. Have you ever replaced it? I had the same problem, replaced gas cap, problem solved. What's the worst that can happen $25 bucks, do it.

if you don't want to try the oem, $5 or $7 from auto zone work just as well!

We'll see.
Following you could do to solve the problems
1. Goto Autozone get the Fault codes ( it is free )
2. Once you get them put it on this forum, we can help you from there.
3. It is a very rare that the ABS ECU fries, the dealer or whoever said that has to be dumb. Without even trouble shooting and getting the Exact data frames from the ECU , you can't conclude the diagnosis and say the ECU needs replacement. Absolute bull story. ( maybe try another dealer you will get another story)
4. Buy this p/n from the dealer - 09843-18040 ( it a SST tool - wires just plain and simple) $5-6 it cost max.
would advise once you get the codes and the stuff. Good luck, Dont break your head.!!
