Maybe a hair dryer will help make the cracks or stickiness happen faster

Lexus has definitely issued a recall for the cracking dashes. In fact, I just got my 05 RX 330 back from the dealership and it looks great! They also gave me a brand new 2017 RX loaner - which was nice EXCEPT FOR THE NEW FRONT GRILL! If I were to purchase another new RX, which I had planned on - it certainly would not be one with the mega-mouth front!

Lexus has really blown it with this new design. The RX WAS a classy & timeless design. No more however.

They made the grill on the Toyotas look better! Has a middle trim piece, on the Lexus, definitely a cosmetic aftermarket needed!

The dealer I called offered to put me in touch with the guy they use to repair this - they said they see it all the time and have a guy they use every time to fix who does a great job and the cost was around $200-300. This is different from multiple sources who said it can't be repaired and has to be replaced at a cost of a few thousand, so you may have to try a few times, but you may get lucky and find someone local who will do the repair.

Know the name of the person or if they are still around?

Hello, I'm a little late to this party, but my dash is looking absolutely disgusting. I have a 2004 RX330, 89,000 miles on it. Just took it for a check up yesterday, it's in perfect mechanical condition, just needs new tires and brakes. I love my car, but not that dash.
Have any of you tried the cover that is made to overlay on the dash? carid.com It's called the Coverlay Dash Pad. It's made of ABS Plastic and it looks good in the pictures. I'm concerned about the passenger airbag, should it need to deploy
Any feedback on this? I am well beyond the recall period, and I tried to call Lexus years ago about it, and they blew me off.
Thank you for any input you may have. I appreciate it,
Kim

This is the 1st gen GX forum.
You're right to be concerned about airbag deployment. I would ask more questions around that.
