Washed it. Really well, like it hadn't seen in about a year I bet. I've grown to really like this vehicle, I used to think it had no personality, but really it's very good in a lot of ways.

Replaced the light bulbs in the center differential lock and descent control switches.
Surprisingly, the heated seat bulbs are still working.

New Wheels and Tires

Installing new slotted rotors and brakes next. Followed by new spark plugs.

Default GX470 Center Console Bulbs

@Chip...was replacing these bulbs difficult? I have an 03 and one of the heated seats bulbs is out. Took it to my local guy and he said that he would have to phone Ali's friend (who is a Lexus tech) and ask how to change the bulb. Didn't know if this was something I could do by just popping out the switch, unplugging it and change the bulb.

Thanks!

Dw

Some people are able to pop them out with a fingernail by reaching behind them. You may or may not have enough slack in the wires to turn it to the side to get access to the bulbs. If you don't...

1. Remove the console side trim. These are the dark gray/black textured pieces that run along each side of the console and up onto the dash. On the passenger side, lift up at the back, near the cupholder. On the driver's side, life up at the back, in front of the handbrake.

2. Remove the transfer case **** - it just spins off.

3. Loosen the gearshift ****. It's spins, but doesn't come off (stays attached to the leather boot)

4. Pry up the shift & transfer case panel. Lift up at the back by the cupholder and also at the front by the air bag height controller. You won't need to remove it all the way - just enough to make room to remove the panel with the seat switches.

5. Life up the heated seat & center differential lock panel. There are clips at all four corners.

6. Unplug the connector and push the switch out from the bottom.

What is your suspension setup and how much lift do you have?

Thats a lot of work for a switch that can simply be popped out either by hand or a $4 plastic pry tool that won't scratch the console. The bulb itself is available at RadioShack. I ended up doing both of mine because after I replace the burnt out one, it was brighter than the other one. It literally took me 15 minutes.

Edit; you need a #7219 bulb pack. The old bulb and socket simply turn out of the side of the switch.

Mine sits in the garage all summer since I drive my jeep most days. I'm getting closer and closer to ordering a set of BFD wheels for it though.
