AliSC3, welcome to the GX side of the forums. I was just a few months ahead of you but looks like you've done quite a bit already on yours. These SUV's are quite enjoyable. We've brought it off-road twice already, and I think I strained the good ol' radiator so no off-roading and long drives til I replace it sometime this week. Don't wanna play with the suspension just yet cause I'm really loving the ride coming from lowered SC's, which you've helped me fixing and figuring out stuff in the past. I'll post a few pics of mine some time.

The cable is very short, so a sliding battery is not good. There must be a decent secondary ground because the GX was running fine with the broken wire. All fixed now with a new cable and gold plated crimped and soldered lugs. I made the new cable 6" long - almost twice the length of the original. Oh yeah, also tightened the battery clamp!

Might want to add this to your maintenance check list.

I just familiarized myself with this during my HID install. it seems to be an extra ground from the battery to the side. the battery is grounded at lots of points but def a good catch and fix. My terminals were covered in that battery powder stuff, gave it a good cleaning and went back in.

Thanks, they cleaned up pretty well a few small chips/scratches but nothing major, probably going to end up dipping them some color haven't decided, maybe gunmetal or a brown color.

Thanks KingPhillip. its nice to see some familiar names on this side of the forum
The GX just sort of fell into my lap I wasn't planning on getting it, was actually planning on a Tundra doublecab, but after driving the GX I really really like it to say the least, I was always a fan of the v8 4runner (father has a nice one) and I seriously enjoy driving both of them the AWD system is seriously capable with the center torsen and the 5 speed auto.
I did get the mod bug pretty bad, this GX is mainly for me so it will be getting some personal styling. you probably do need to change the radiator at some point, previous owner changed it on mine like 20k ago (saw it on lexus service website) so I have been in decent shape with the cooling side of things. I am installing a mild spacer lift in the front and tricking the rear about an inch so I can keep the stock controls for shock dampening and the rear air ride, I don't want to give up the fancy buttons just yet either.. I just got them. when the shocks blow they will be replaced with Blistiens most likely. I think I am going to start a build thread so I can keep the progress in one place, wish I took more pics now. good thing I am not that far into it yet.

265 70 17 fits without rubbing with these wheels. At full turn, about 3/4 -1/2 in clearance.

I think these wheels stick out 10mm more each side. At 70 mph, slightly more loud than Mich cross terrain 265 65 17. That is with radio off. Can't hear it with radio on.

The gx sits 1/2 in higher.
I just noticed these wheels have the same 15mm offset that the tundra ones do, making them the only 2 I have found so far like that which are 6 lug *edit* 17" toyota wheels. The look really good actually first time I am seeing this style, if I didn't have the tundra ones those would be in the running.

FJ's have a few different style wheels, and I believe they are all the same 17x8 (1/2" wider than stock GX, 4Runner, and I believe Tundra as well), +15mm offset.

Pretty sure they are the 7.5" wheel. only the landcruisers got 8" wide wheels and they are 16" on fj80 so I doubt they would fit over the brakes on the GX. the fj100 went to 5 lug so those don't fit.

My on-road and off-road work horses. Just a random pic after working on both of them yesterday. Tuned the suspension on my SC so I can drive in the mountains, and replaced the leaky radiator on the GX so we can go off-roading again, which is actually an aftermath of the last off-roading. LOL

Just to clarify, FJ Cruisers have 17x8 wheels from factory, 1'2" wider than other Toyota 17" wheels. Wasn't talking about Land Cruisers here.

I understood and looked up all the FJ wheels. they are listed as 7.5 one at least with a 15mm offset, having a 8" wheel with a 15mm offset doesn't make much sense to me so pls double check your facts. can you please link a picture of the wheel you are talking about I could not find anything wider than a 7.5 from an FJ. I only mentioned the FJ80 because they do come with 8" wide wheels but they are 16's.
Stock FJ cruiser wheel sizes
16x7.5 Alloy TRD 29lbs
17x7.5 '07-'10 Alloy 26lbs
17x7.5 '10-'13 Alloy 29lbs
17x7.5 Steel 31lbs

King and RX, those GX's and SC's are looking great!!

Hmm, apparently I'm out to lunch, not sure where I got the idea they were all 8" wide on the FJC's.

Good info, thanks for the correction!

What I've done for the past 3 days is claybar, Polish, and wax my newly acquired 2009 GX.

Just the claybar took me about 8 hours over two days. I've been polishing with a Meguiars polish, and although pretty shiny it's not enough. This is my first black vehicle so I'm learning real quick how easy scratches and swirl marks are to see when it's clean.

I've since ordered some mezerna polish and compound for another try for desired results. Pics when done.

Thanks! Yes I dipped it my self. All of the chrome on my truck has been sprayed. Best tip I can give you is use lots of light coats. There are around 6 coats on mine. Any less and the dip will not peel off properly. There are lots of tutorial available on you tube. Search for "dip your car".
