Default Pirelli Scorpion ATR tires any good?

national tire and battery currently has a buy one get one free promotion through the end of October, unfortunately, michellin tires aren't on the list of the BOGO offer.

The best one I can find on the BOGO offer is the Pirelli scorpion ATR. Was wondering if anyone ever tried them and would recommend them?

Here's the information they have on their website.

A couple of things to note about the BOGO offer. You'll have to pay $30 per tire for mount and balance and also a 4 wheel alignment at $115. Cost of tire is about $195 each so I estimated it'll cost me about $650 including tax and disposal fee of my old tires.

I'll either have to pull the trigger on these or keep my fingers X that I find a set of OEM limited 4 runner wheels for sale. I've been looking for almost 4 months now and no luck.

You may want to take a look at AT tire ratings on tirerack.com. Another reputable online company is that provides actual end user reviews is discounttiredirect.com. They only give this tire 3.5 out of 5 . http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...yp=Truck%2FSUV

IMHO, the thread is not aggressive enough for an AT tire.

But the price is definitely right...

thanks for the suggestion! I don't do any off roading so I don't really care too much about the agressive thread, it just have to be relatively quiet and good in water, snow, ice and dry pavement.

Scorpions will be great on dry pavement, they will be just ok in other condions you mentioned.

But again, you can't beat that price.

snhrph..yeah, price is pretty good right now.

i read the reviews on the scorpion: mixed reviews on the tread wear some say they got over 50k out of them others say only 15 to 20k..i'm wondering if the difference is due to normal driving vs frequent off roading.

i also read that at the beginning the performance is phenomenal but after the first yr it degrades considerably. Other comments include, when its cold under 40F the tires feel as if there are hard spots when driving the first mile or 2 and after that its fine.

I was considering them but then I came across the Nitto Crosstek, these are new tireline from Nitto in January of this year. I read a few reviews and all of them were really good. These tires are rated for 60K, UTQG rating of 620AB, full specs below.

For $172/tire at NTB and it being a part of the BOGO free offer, I think I'm going to go with these. Anyone have $.02 to put in?
