From those of you with HID kits (mine is from Steve at Xenon Depot)--I have the 4300K kit for my lows now---I have been thinking of going to 6K but I dont want to loose alot of light and from I hear differant storys. For those of you that may have swapped from 4300K--to 6K or even 6500K. Did you like the switch and any noted visability change?

I know they say 4300K is the optimum light output but I want to maybe get a little more color

What, you didn't think the past 500 arguments here about color were sufficient enough so you wanted to start a new one?

I too have Steve's kit in my GX but w/ 5000K bulbs. It's fantastic on dry nights, bar none. However... you honestly do lose some visibility on very dark nights especially when the roadway is wet or if there isn't other ambient street lighting. In all sincerity it can get difficult seeing very dark pavement and wet pavement or ice w/ the 5000k bulbs (FWIW I also have 20/15 vision thanks to Lasik). My GS350 has OEM HIDs which are ~ 4300K and I have no problems w/ them in any weather. So, if I had it to do over, I'd likely stick w/ the 5000k or possibly step down to 4300K but would never consider anything higher unless I lived in a very dry weather climate.

Incidentally, I know most people don't care as they are just going for a certain "look" but the bluer you go (higher up the K scale), the more glare you generate for opposing drivers. Yeah so what, I don't care as long as I can see. That's fine unless you really blind someone to the point they hit you head on. Extreme situation I certainly understand, but none the less plausible and more so w/ our GX projectors being so much higher up. Occasionally I have visibility issues w/ cheap HID kits when people put really blue ones in older reflector style lamps...

Do you notice a diffenative color differance between your 4300 and 5K's when looking at them...say against a wall--I mean its not that much 700K but I dont know.

You have any pictures of your lights on the GX against a wall or really any picts you can share

absolutely you can see a definitive color difference b/w them when looking at them directly or reflected off a wall. Sorry, I don't have any pictures handy but I'll try to remember to take some over the weekend.

Love the 6k look, light output for me is fine. My gs has an oe 4300 kit and to me it just doesnt look as good. Personal preference thing though....

I have 6000k, and had 4500k before. In my opinion 4500 provides more light output, but 6000k looks better, its more deep blue.

Sorry is there a 4500k between the 4300 and the 5000k, I never knew that, as the Xenon Depot website does not mention of this range.

Im thinking I will swap out my 4300 for the 5K in my low beams--and pick up the 5K HID kit for my Fogs--

This was a test done with a retrofit to the Projectors, using the Philips 85122 and the Morimotos and the DL50s and the bulb kelvin range from 4300,5000k, You will see the difference which is better. The morimoto were much better after the lens were used spacers to adjust the beam focal length and clarity. The spectrum was also wide. The HID were Greddys

Once you go past 5K temperature you are losing lumens. 5K is already starting to get blue. 5K should be the max temperature unless you do not mind blue and losing lumens.

From the looks of that K- chart, 5K would give you the brightest whitest light with a hint of blue?
