Default Has anyone tried a non-OEM shock/strut? Bilstein?

I'm starting to do some research trying to find a Bilstein HD fitment for my GX. I have 51k miles, and just had one of the rear shocks replaced under warranty (just before 50k). They said all 4 were leaking, but only one was severe enough to justify replacement under warranty.

I priced-out replacing the other rear shock, so I'd be replacing a "set", and the part from sewell was $600+. The front struts are ~$250/ea. I don't want to spend this kind of $$ on OEM stuff, and personally don't care about the adjustability of the OEM shocks.

So, the quick question is: has anyone used either Prado or 4runner shocks on the GX with success? It appears that Bilstein doesn't offer shocks for the GX (yet), though they do offer shocks for both the Prado (even the one w/the rear air suspension), and the 4runner limited. I'm fairly confident the Prado shocks would work, though I'd have to source them overseas. The 4runner shocks are a slightly bigger risk, but I bet they'd bolt right up.

Has anyone tried it? Is anyone else interested in Bilsteins?
