Default Wierd electrical problems

I think I have a gremlin in my 2006 GX 470 and need some help getting it out. It started out with my driver side HID headlight working only when it wanted to. Usually worked for a few minutes and then when out. If I turn the lights off and then back on, it would work for another few minutes. I checked all the fuses and no issues. Then the driver side door panel started acting up. The auto up/down stopped working and I could only control the driver window and the rear passenger window…then I could control the passenger window, but not the rear driver side window…then the driver pre sets stopped working…and then they started to work again.

Crazy! Any ideas?? I had someone mention “relays”, but not sure exactly what that means. Best,

Orig battery? Silly things start happening to cars when battery is weak. I got almost exactly 4 years out of my OEM battery. Maybe a few extra days but not much. With yours being an '06, you're due or on borrowed time if still OEM battery...

If not...
Relays could be issue but each of the above mentioned, for the most part, is on separate relay so issue is 'upstream', especially if the gremlin moves (as it appears to be doing).

Ignition switch could be going too. One of my other vehicles is notorious for electrical gremlins when ignition switch goes bad (radio stays one when key removed, lights don't shut off, windows won't open/close.

Alternator could be shot leading to battery draw and not enough power (but should get an idiot light form that one)

I'd start by answering the battery questions and if OEM, put on a load tester. Also, might go to a PepBoys or AutoZone and see if any codes are pending. They read codes for free. We can go from there...

It would be a safe assumption that you have aftermarket lights since the GX does not come with HID. One common problem with aftermarket HIDs are the ballast. Sounds like your ballast is about done and will need to be replaced. I agree with the BurgBoxstr about checking your battery. If all else fails you can just do the ring around the windows, starting from the drivers side, initiate the open and close. Going clockwise initiate all the windows ending at the drivers side. You should have control by then

Thanks OGY and BurgBoxstr. I'll check on the battery this weekend and hope for the best. Much appreciated.
