Thinking about getting a GX470?

I'm not sure how the space compares, but based upon my back to back drives in a new 2006 V8 4Runner and a 2003 GX470, I far prefer the GX. I was very surprised at this as I thought about the only difference would be in visible trim, but somehow there's more to it than that. The 4Runner is a nice vehicle, but it somehow the GX just feels much more refined in several ways. If it were me, I'd spend whatever money I had to spend on one of the two, on the best GX I could get (so long as it's enough to get a decent GX).

I should have been more clear as I am looking at a mechanical standpoint, and there were upgrades by the 2005 model year for the 4Runner (different transmission and better braking system). We also don't need the V8 nor AWD. The V6 and a 2WD will be sufficient for my girlfriend. Problem is that a 2003 GX470 seems to be in an astronomically different price range from say the 2005 4Runners we have been looking at and that's also the more major issue. I have no problem getting a high mileage GX470, but the pricing seems way out of whack for blue book/edmunds, etc.
We won't consider the 2003-04 4Runners due to the mechanical differences (not confusing that with problems).
I am still going to take a look and even will consider take a trip to go pick one up, but for the time being looks like a 4Runner will be a new member of our family soon.
