03 vs 04+ maintenance: front wheel bearings
I am looking to purchase a GX470 and due to budget have been looking at older models with higher mileage. I have noticed in the scheduled maintenance manual for the 2003 MY it shows that every 30,000 miles requires repacking the front wheel bearings whereas the 2004 and later do not have this requirement. So does the '03 differ and need this service every 30K or was the requirement simply phased out as it is not needed?
BTW this site is a great resource for prospective owners. Thanks to all!

I drive a 05, but I've never heard of having to repack wheel bearings that often. In general I check the bearings grease when I am replacing the brake pads or rotors. In all my years repacking, I've never encounter a dried up bearing area. I use Mobil 1 synthetic red grease.
